Chief Executive Officer, Avenue Two Travel. Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

Joshua Bush

I run the company I write about, which is the only reason any of it is worth reading.

Avenue Two Travel is a luxury travel management company with more than $200 million in annual sales, over 150 team members worldwide and more than 100 advisors across the United States. Our advisors average roughly $3 million each in annual sales, which is the highest average in the industry.

The agency was purchased in 1987 and traded as Park Avenue Travel, becoming a by invitation Virtuoso member in 1999. Next year it turns forty. I joined in 2006, rebranded it to Avenue Two Travel in 2014, and became chief executive in 2012.

Sales have grown more than tenfold since 2015, and the business has grown well beyond leisure travel, adding a corporate, meetings and events division, a services operation in the Philippines, offices in New Jersey and Pittsburgh, and a nonprofit promoting education and careers in travel.

What we changed

Two things we built are the substance of most of what I argue publicly.

The Avenue Approach is a design method Avenue Two Travel launched at the International Luxury Travel Market in Cannes in December 2025. It treats qualification, workflow and proposal quality as professional standards rather than personal habits, and it is built to fit an advisor’s existing software rather than force a change of system.

The Avenue Alliance is how we choose and reward partners. Its charter states that this is not a program built on volume but on values, and that it is not a pay to play model. Partners are selected on impact, each is paired with an advisor liaison who rotates every two years, and we commit to reporting the results jointly.

In 2023 Avenue Two Travel became the first travel agency in the world endorsed by Forbes Travel Guide.

Accountability that is difficult to withdraw

Avenue Two Travel is a certified B Corporation, and we converted to a Pennsylvania benefit corporation, amending the bylaws and corporate charter so the company is legally required to weigh its environmental and societal impact rather than economics alone.

We did that because a commitment you can quietly abandon was never really a standard. It is the same argument I make about everything else on this site, applied to ourselves.
